Fortalecer la capacidad institucional para que Zambia implemente las obligaciones de la Convención de Minamata reduciendo la presencia de mercurio en poblaciones vulnerables según lo dispuesto en los artículos 16 y 18

In order for Zambia to implement its obligations under the Minamata Convention, it is imperative that strategies to identify and protect populations at risk to mercury exposure are developed and implemented, including strategies on public information and awareness. The project will conduct an in-depth national survey on populations vulnerable to mercury exposure. Education and training materials to raise public awareness related to the effects of exposure to mercury and mercury compounds on human health will be developed. The project will also evaluate the extent of use of products listed in Annex A of the Minamata Convention. The project will develop strategies on monitoring mercury in biota and on the phase-out of mercury-added products including skin lightening creams and soaps.
