Fortalecimiento de capacidades para la implementación de la Convención de Minamata sobre Mercurio en Nigeria

The project builds on Nigeria’s MIA and will address priority issues and recommendations identified with a focus on the development of National Strategy for Mercury Management. The Strategy will include specific sectoral action plans for mercury management in the cement sector, mercury-added products, mercury trade and supply, mercury waste management, and environmental and health monitoring, in close consultation with relevant stakeholders. The project will also establish a Mercury Management Information System (MIS) to collect data on mercury supply, use, releases, import/export, material flow of mercury, thereby supporting coordinated action across all sectors relevant for mercury management. The project will also conduct training for institutional representatives on key issues that will enhance national capacity for the sound management of mercury and mercury waste.
