Objectives

To enhance the understanding and knowledge of healthcare and environmental teams, private sector, miners, NGOs, as well as representatives from Indigenous organizations, regarding the impacts of mercury in artisanal small-scale gold mining (ASGM)

  • OUTPUT 1: Workshop and hands-on training held on the impact of mercury on health and the environment
  • OUTPUT 2: Ethnographic study of human perception of the use of mercury in ASGM across three populations in selected areas (Tapajos River): Indigenous, artisanal miners, and surrounding population
  • OUTPUT 3: Concluding Session of the Multi-Stakeholder Workshop/Roundtable: Eliminating mercury use in gold mining Roundtable: Lessons Learned and Ongoing Challenges
  • OUTPUT 4: Monitoring, evaluation, and financial audit
