Soutien au renforcement des capacités pour la mise en œuvre de la Convention de Minamata sur le mercure au Burundi

The project builds on the findings of the Minamata Initial Assessment (MIA) and the National Action Plan (NAP). It aims to address the gaps identified in Burundi, namely lack of information available to regulators and decision-makers, need for training of relevant government agencies on mercury management, and lack of tools for public awareness, information and education for environmentally sound management of mercury. The project is expected to provide a system for collection of mercury information deployed by the institutions involved in mercury management, training for key agencies and stakeholders, and education and awareness-raising on mercury issues for the general public.
