Towards a mercury-free dentistry

The Minamata Online session will be held on 1 December (13:00-14:00 CET). The sixth meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP-6) decided to phase out the manufacture, import and export of dental amalgam by 2034, and requested the Secretariat to present to COP-7 draft guidance on developing national action plans to phase out dental amalgam. With the financial support from the European Union, the Secretariat is collecting case studies and developing guidance document. The draft, for comments by Parties and stakeholders, will be presented at this session, with other information including the Global Environment Facility (GEF) dental amalgam project implemented in Senegal, Thailand and Uruguay.
