Objectives
To address the mercury use in traditional medicines (Ayurvedic) and minimize the health and environmental risks from mercury wastes generated in Sri Lanka’s Ayurvedic drugs manufacturing process by providing an environmentally sound integrated solution for management of wastes consisting of, containing or contaminated with mercury or mercury compounds generated

Expected outcome
- OUTPUT 1: Establish institutional setup for project implementation
- OUTPUT 2: Regulatory gap analysis and enforcement of regulatory framework relating to control of mercury import and trade
- OUTPUT 3: Identify and quantify mercury usage and waste generation in Ayurvedic drug manufacturing process
- OUTPUT 4: Design and implementation of environmentally sound integrated solution to control mercury releases from Ayurvedic drugs manufacturing process; on-site model solution at SLADC
