MENARID Integrated Nature Resources Management in the Middle East and North Africa Region (PROGRAM)

The overall objective will be twofold: Promoting integrated SLM in the drylands of the MENA region while improving the economic and social well-being of the targeted communities through the restoration and maintenance of ecosystem functions and productivity. MENARID will work towards further SLM mainstreaming, improved governance for natural resource management, and coordinated investments that will: (i) promote enabling environments to mainstream the SLM agenda at national and regional scales, and (ii) generate mutual benefits for the global environment and local livelihoods through catalyzing SLM investments for large-scale impact. The program will be implemented through regular GEF projects.
