Facilitate China to ratify 7 new POPs amendments and update its National Implementation Plan (NIP) under the Stockholm Convention

The proposed project aims to facilitate China to ratify the above-mentioned 7 amendments, and to update its NIP to fulfil its commitment with the 7 amendments, and to enhance China's national capacity for new POPs management. The project will (1) analyze gaps of existing national regulatory framework and institutional capacity to create an enabling environment to ratify and fulfill the obligations with regard to the 7 amendments; (2) make information and knowledge with regard to POPs, in particular, the 7 new POPs, accessible for awareness raising among relevant stakeholders including policy and decision makers, the industry, workers, consumers, academia, the public, etc.; (3) develop or update inventories for the new POPs and provide information on their alternatives/alternative technologies; (4) evaluate socio-economic impacts of ratifying and meeting the obligations of the 7 amendments; (5) facilitate the Chinese government to ratify the 7 amendments, and update its NIP to implement the obligations with regard to the 7 amendments.
