Enabling activities to facilitate early action on the implementation of the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants in Congo

The objective of this Enabling Activities (EA) proposal is to build and strengthen national capacities and to enhance knowledge of decision makers, industrialists, NGOs and the general population on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs). This will lead to the preparation and endorsement of a National Implementation Plan (NIP) for the Stockholm Convention on (POPs) by all stakeholders in Congo, in order to enable Congo to manage the elimination of POPs and fulfil the Stockholm Convention obligations. The Project will specifically enable Congo to: - Prepare the basis for the implementation of the Stockholm Convention; - ·Strengthen national capacities for the management POPS, and - Ensure government commitment and facilitate the Stockholm Convention ratification.
