To develop an Institutional and Regulatory Framework for Implementation of the Minamata Convention in India

Activities

Production of studies/analyses, Development of national plans/strategies/guidelines, Training of stakeholders, Implementation/improvement of measures for control/reduction of emission/releases, Legal framework development/update 

Expected outcome
  • OUTPUT 1: Establishment of measurement, sampling, and analysis protocol for mercury emissions
  • OUTPUT 2: Research and capacity building on the abatement/reduction of national mercury emissions from sources listed in Annex D, consistent with BAT/BEP guidance conducted
  • OUTPUT 3: Research and development on use of mercury in Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, and Homoeopathy products and processes conducted
  • OUTPUT 4: National Regulations on Mercury Management developed
