This project aims to promote the conservation of vulnerable, endangered and endemic wild animals, medicinal plants and wild varieties of important crops in the two sanctuaries. It will strengthen the sustainable use and management of silvi-horticulture systems, agrobiodiversity and medicinal plants, inter alia to promote alternative livelihood patterns and reduce resource pressures on the sanctuaries. The project features several innovative approaches to biodiversity conservation, including promoting indigenous knowledge and grassroots solutions for developing alternative livelihoods, and identifying and promoting native conservation ethics (Sacred Groves, Knowledge Forests, etc.) as the foundation for conservation awareness efforts.
