Specific International Programme to support Capacity-Building and Technical Assistance

El Programa Internacional Específico para apoyar la creación de capacidad y la asistencia técnica es uno de los dos componentes del mecanismo financiero del Convenio de Minamata sobre el Mercurio, junto con el Fondo para el Medio Ambiente Mundial (FMAM). Se definió en el artículo 13 del Convenio, y en 2017 la primera reunión de la Conferencia de las Partes tomó una decisión con respecto a su duración y a las disposiciones para su funcionamiento (decisión MC-1/6). Conforme a la solicitud formulada en la decisión MC-1/6, el Programa de las Naciones Unidas para el Medio Ambiente (PNUMA) creó el Fondo Fiduciario Específico, con efecto a partir del 1 de enero de 2018, para recibir fondos para el Programa Internacional Específico.
