Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the first segment of the fourth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Minamata Convention on Mercury (COP-4) will take place online from 1 to 5 November 2021. The second segment of COP-4 will take place in-person in Bali, Indonesia in 2022.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the first segment of the fourth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Minamata Convention on Mercury (COP-4) will take place online from 1 to 5 November 2021. The COP plenary sessions will be conducted with interpretation in the 6 UN languages, with its opening ceremony to be broadcast on YouTube on 1 November from 13h00 to 13h30 CET. The complete list of COP-4 documents can be found on our website.
More than 800 participants are already confirmed to attend the meeting. Registration is needed to attend plenary sessions and side events. Among the high-level speakers, the Conference will include:

A number of online events open to the public will discuss specific and regional issues in the framework of the Convention. They are open for registration, and some of the highlights will be:
- Monday 1 November: The Minamata Convention Financial Mechanism, opening remarks by Carlos Manuel Rodriguez, GEF CEO and chairperson
- Tuesday 2 November: Art Break: Minamata movie, discussion with film director Andrew Levitas
- Wednesday 3 November: UNEP+50 event
