On 26 and 28 July 2017 respectively, the Governments of Syrian Arab Republic and Kiribati deposited their instruments of ratification, thereby becoming the 72nd and 73rd future Parties to the Minamata Convention.
In line with the objectives of the Minamata Convention on Mercury, the building that is housing the offices of the Secretariat is transitioning to mercury-free lighting.
