Invitation to submit an expression of intent to provide data and to review the draft plan for data analysis to support the first effectiveness evaluation of the Minamata Convention on Mercury

COP-5 adopted guidance on best available techniques and best environmental practices (BAT/BEP) to control releases of mercury to land and water, pursuant Article 9 of the Convention.

The meeting, which was held online from 24 to 25 September, discussed compliance issues and national reporting under the Minamata Convention.

On 23 December 2024, the Maldives will officially become the 151st Party to the Minamata Convention on Mercury, a key step in joining the global efforts to make mercury history.
